The Skinny on Skinnies

Skinny jeans are one of my absolute favourite fashion trends to emerge in the past 10 years. They’re extremely versatile, and can be used for all kinds of different looks, styles and occasions. It’s the dream staple piece for your closet, basically.

Today, I thought I’d put together three different looks based around one of my most beloved skinnies that I own, which I got from Express. You can get yourself a pair of these super comfy jeans over here.

Now, without further ado, on to the looks!

Look #1: Business Casual

Jacket: H&M; Tank: Express; Necklace: Joe Fresh; Crossbody: Coach; Heels: Calvin Klein

Casual Friday, anybody? This outfit is definitely for a more casual work setting. The navy jacket is both professional and fun with it’s graphic polka dot print. I paired it with some bright red pumps and a crossbody bag to match, that adds a nice pop of colour to the outfit, without completely overwhelming it. Toss in a bejeweled necklace to dress up the outfit, but be sure it isn’t too distracting.

Look #2: Girl on the Go

Sweater: Rachel Antonoff; Collared Shirt: H&M; Sunglasses: Coach (Limited Edition); Sneakers: Keds x Kate Spade

This outfit is centered around the idea of being effortlessly fashionable. The sweater is totally cozy and warm for those chilly winter days, but still features an adorable graphic print that brings it over to the trendy side. I decided to layer it with a polka dot shirt, using the collar peeking out the top to bring an element of classic fun to the look. It also coordinates with the slip ons’ dots, that also bring a nice colour element to the look. This outfit is the perfect thing to wear for doing just about anything- Running errands, hanging out with friends, grabbing a coffee- you name it.

Look #3: On the Town

Faux Fur Coat: H&M; Sequin Tank: Joe Fresh; Bag: Chapters Indigo; Bracelet: Kate Spade; Heels: Call It Spring

I find that wearing a faux fur coat is definitely more appropriate as a night time look, rather than a daytime affair. A personal belief of mine, but to each their own! Whatever the case, when you do find the occasion to wear one, are they ever fun to style! I paired my light pink fuzzy number with a peachy/light pink sequin tank I picked up to add a fun clash of textures to the ensemble. Adding rose gold metallic heels in the same hue of the pinks fits perfectly for the tone of the outfit, and totally works with the current metals trend.

That’s it for this Sunday’s lookbook! Be sure to break out those skinny jeans this week. My question to you this week is this: What’s your perfect jean fit? Flares, skinnies, or jeggings? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Congrats on your blog launch! I’m really loving your style and outfit inspiration – especially these 3 skinny jean looks! I only started wearing skinny jeans within the last year or so and can’t get enough. I now own pairs in blue, grey, white and black. They’re so comfortable and versatile! Since I am rather tall (6’2), I do have to hunt for the perfect length but have had very good luck lately.

    1. Thank you very much! I can sympathize as a fairly tall lady myself (5’10”!), that it’s rather difficult to find jeans that don’t rival capris 😛 I’m wishing you continued luck on finding longer jeans! 🙂
